Circles Wyoming, a group which helps families get back on the path of self-sufficiency, benefitted recently by a dinner provided by Cheyenne Sunrise Rotary Club members.

CSR member Donna Anderson, Past President Roxanne Ostlund’s mother, provided the money for the dinner, which was cooked by Roxanne’s husband Tom. Past President Carrie Westling coordinated the dinner and several members helped; Mike Shonsey, Mike Weiland, Milward Simpson, Dorothy Jacobson, Jason Johnson and Jerry Crader.

Circles Wyoming helps those in poverty become self-sufficient through education and networking. The 15-week course is offered several times throughout the year in Cheyenne, Riverton and Casper. Each class typically has 15 to 20 participants.
To qualify, your income needs to be 200 percent of the local poverty level, you must be at least 18 years old, you must have stable housing and cannot be in a time of crisis.
Circles Wyoming also looks at criminal histories and interviews candidates for the program.
Others can volunteer as allies. Allies spend about four to 10 hours a month mentoring participants. Circles Wyoming tries to match allies to participants with similar goals or interests.
